The weather of Yellow Mountain (Mt.Huangshan) is uncertain and variable.
Within a
day, it can be sunny, can cloudy and foggy. When you are enjoying the
sunshine, clear peaks and trees against a blue sky dotted with white
clouds are visible, then a while fog rolls in and everything is
gone except for nearby bleary pines. When you are disappointed or dismayed
at the bad foggy weather, all of sudden a gust of wind or a ray
of sunlight comes and the thick opaque fog is driven away, revealing a fantastic spectacle before you.
It's so quick and sudden that you stand motionless in amazement at the great view
before you remember your camera and start taking pictures.
So when you're
going to ascend Mt.Huangshan, we suggest you take an umbrella and/or raincoat
with you even if it's a sunny day forecasted. Weather
forecasts are not always correct due to the complicated terrain of the
mountain. Fog often comes with rain and is a severe obstacle to sightseeing
but on the other side of the coin, when the fog is gone or lower, you ends up with a most breathtaking view: the sea
of clouds. That's the view some photographers wait weeks on the mountaintop for.
