Huangshan District ( Taiping )

Huangshan District is situated in the north of Huangshan City, embraces Huangshan Scenic Area. With a population of 160,000, it covers an area of 2,125 square kilometers. Huangshan District was formerly called Taiping County, set up in the 11th year of Tianbao reign of Tang Dynasty (752AD). It became a county-level Huangshan City in 1983, and changed into today's Huangshan District.

Huangshan is endowed with great tourist resources, a muster of montains, lake, ponds, cave and forest. Lake Taipinghu is surrounded by green hills, clean and clear, like a world of emerald. No wonder Lake Taipinghu became the location for severl movie and teleplay.
The district also enjoys an fine ecosystem, its forestry reaches 70% of the total land. Tea is the traditional produce of this area, Huangshan Maofeng Tea and Taiping Houkui Tea are among the ten best green tea in China.

Nowadays tourism industry became more and more important for Hungshan District. Because Mt.Jiuhua-Lake Taipinghu-Mt.Huangshan route is emphasized, will become even more popular when Tongling-Huangshan Expressway is done. No doubt Huangshan District (Taiping) will enjoy a promising tourism in the future thanks to rich resources and easy access.
